Catering To Your Whims... is a Personal Chef Service that specializes in the preparation of great tasting food and high quality customer service.
Since our inception, Catering To Your Whims... has continually evolved to meet the demands of the ever changing culinary climate. Chef Kahlil has been practicing the art of fine food preparation for over a decade. Chef Kahlil made his start as a personal chef by catering parties for friends, family and colleagues as a way to make extra money. Word quickly spread of his innovative, tasty and soulful dishes, and soon "Catering To Your Whims" was born. Over the years Kahlil has found himself preparing food in fine restaurants, hotels, military, formal dining settings, private homes, and also competed in the Prestigious Connelly Competition. His training began in the late 80's creating some of his family's favorite dishes at home. After working in various restaurants Kahlil decided to "formalize" his training when he pursued a career in the illustrious United State Army. During his tenure in the US Army Kahlil worked his way up the ranks to Sous Chef. Through out his career, he diversified his experience which contributes to developing his creative techniques. "I have sought opportunities to learn from some of the best chefs in the country." When I wanted to know more about French Cuisine, I apprenticed with world renowned Executive Chef Kendall Selby of Abundant Harvest Catering. Chef Selby graciously allowed me to spend time in the kitchen of Harvest Hall in New Jersey and this experience has proved most educational.
“I take my passion for using creativity, mixing exotic herbs and seasonings into every meal, and share it with others.“
Having cooked for many years professionally and for friends and family I was encouraged to establish a company that has the vision of "Making Your Culinary Wishes a Reality."
Catering To Your Whims... is an extension of my own creative techniques. I have designed a variety of cuisines and look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for different flavors with our clients. Chef Kahlil's specialties include Classic American, Creole Cuisine and Nouveau Soul food with Caribbean accents

Anyone who would enjoy a little more free time in their day. Click here to see how this service works. What is the difference between a Personal Chef and a Private Chef? A private chef is employed by one individual or a family full time and is often "living with them" preparing 3 meals a day. A personal chef serves several clients, providing meals that are custom designed for the client's particular requests and requirements. Meals may be packaged and stored so that the clients may enjoy them at their leisure in the future. Is a Personal Chef Expensive? If you calculate the amount of money you spend dining out, tipping and buying groceries which end-up being thrown out because you didn't have the time or desire to cook them, you will find the cost of my services to be very comparable. You are also getting custom- prepared meals which you can enjoy at your leisure. Just think! You don't have to dress up to have restaurant-quality food at home! Hiring a Personal Chef is no longer a luxury reserved for the lifestyles of the "Rich and Famous." More and more people from all walks of life are taking advantage of this service. If you appreciate great food, personalized service, and want more time in your busy schedule, then a Personal Chef is exactly what you need. Do you cook my meals in advance before bringing them? Absolutely not! To ensure utmost freshness and food handling safety we cook all of your meals in your kitchen. We shop for your groceries on the way to your house, prepare and then package all of your meals, clean your kitchen, and then leave you with a well-stocked freezer and refrigerator and a house filled with the mouth-watering aromas of your delicious meals! Do I need to sign a contract? You do not have to sign a contract in order to receive the Personal Chef Service. You can call when you want service but, a regular recurring contract is an available option. However, for in-home dinner parties or private catered events a contract will be provided. Do I pay ahead ? Yes, it is customary to pay for the service in advance of your cook date. A 50% deposit will be required for special dinner parties with the balance due 3 days before the cook date. Gratuity is welcome! What if I am not home during the time of my service? It is not necessary to be home for cook day. An arrangement can be made for the chef to prepare the meals while you are out just like a housekeeper. All aspects of a client and clients household are kept private and confidential and a one time statement to that is signed to that effect. Personal also means Private. How long will you be here? A chef will be preparing various entrees and side dishes from scratch, so it will take several hours. For your romantic dinner for two, dinner parties for more people I cannot say exactly how many hours. We are more then willing to work with your schedule or situation, and we can make arrangements in advance so that our cooking date and time is compatible with your schedule. I have high cholesterol and my doctor wants me to watch my fat intake. Can a personal chef work for me? I am trained in Foodservice Nutrition but I am *NOT* a nutritionist or dietician. You should always consult your physician, nutritionist or dietician for specific advice. I'm very adept at cooking healthy, low-fat meals which are full of flavor and appeal. Low-fat doesn't have to mean low-flavor or no-flavor! Your Chef and I (Chef Kahlil) will devise menus that utilize your favorite ingredients with a low-fat twist. We can also accommodate other dietary needs such as vegetarian and low-salt cuisine. I am diabetic and my doctor has me on diet. Can a personal chef work for me? Of course, Diabetic friendly meals are definitely an option so are low salt, low calorie, high or low carb remember it’s “Personal” meaning "catered to your whims". Our Chef's can prepare meals for a variety of dietary restrictions. I’m a picky eater, will you adjust your recipes based on my likes and dislikes? During the client interview your personal chef will ask you detailed questions to find out your food preferences, allergies, or other dietary requirements. Along with any other special requests you may have. Can you make things that are not included on this menu? Absolutely. If you have a family favorite or something you saw in a food magazine, we will be happy to make it for you. Premium prices may apply depending on ingredient costs. How do you package my meals? How you want to heat your meals (microwave, oven, stovetop or toaster oven) will influence what kind of container solutions you would like. There are several types to choose from we have listed in our container solutions section to view our solutions please click here. Storage is really important, because it is how we keep your food fresh and of such high quality. During preparation, is it OK if I watch-or help? As a professional, while working, being distracted by conversation or inquiries can become dangerous causing burns, cuts or mistakes. You are more than welcome to check in occasionally, and jot down any questions that you may have about a particular entree and your personal chef will be more then happy to answer at the end of the cooking session. My kitchen isn't very large or fancy. Is that OK? My kitchen isn't very large or fancy. Is that OK? Sure! We bring our own professional cookware, tools, and other equipment to your home so the only appliances you need are a stove, oven, and refrigerator/freezer. It doesn't matter if you have gas or electric appliances, as we are equally comfortable using both. We also bring all of my own herbs, spices, and seasonings, so you don't need to worry about "stocking the pantry" for me to work in your kitchen. Do you cook for families? Singles? We sure do! Families tend to go through the meals faster than couples or singles, so we often either cook more portions or just come to your home more often. With singles the reverse is usually true. Either way we will cook about 20 meals per visit, depending upon your specific needs. So what's next? Once you contact us a personal chef will set-up an appointment for your free consultation. At that time your personal chef will have you complete a Client Food Preferences Questionnaire so we can determine the kinds of menus to plan for you. After that, we set a date for your first service.
